Looking Steadfastly Toward Heaven
(ἀτενίζω atenizō at-en-id'-zo)
“And while they looked steadfastly
toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from
you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into
heaven.” Acts 1:10-11
Atenizo is a Greek word that means to look
steadfastly, eyes fixed, and gazing intently. It is taken from Acts 1:10-11 when Jesus ascended into
Heaven. We should all be looking
steadfastly toward heaven, waiting for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to
return again.
