QUESTIONS AND STATEMENTS ON CREATION

From the Evidence Bible, Compiled by Ray Comfort

Below are a number of questions, statements, and objections.  Some of them are from non-believers that pose questions to prove in their mind that the Bible is not true.  They think that by “stumping” a Christian, they somehow have disproved the Bible.  What they don’t understand is that the Bible stands by itself.  It doesn’t need to be proved true.  It is the inspired Word of God.  If someone chooses to not believe in it, he will find out later, when it is probably too late, that it is true.  And God will have to judge his sins because he hasn’t been washed clean in the blood of Jesus.  There are other questions about what the Bible says, and other topics such as how to tell others about Jesus Christ, why we can’t just lead a “good” life to go to heaven, and why God must judge sin.

Doesn’t the Big Bang theory disprove the Genesis account of creation?

Try to think of any explosion that has produced order.  Does a terrorist bomb create harmony?  Big bangs cause chaos.  How could a Big Bing produce a rose, apple trees, fish, sunsets, the seasons, hummingbirds, polar bears – thousands of birds and animals, each with its own eyes, nose, and mouth?  A child can see that there is “grand design” in creation.

Try this interesting experiment:  Empty your garage of every piece of metal, wood, paint, rubber and plastic.  Make sure there is nothing in there.  Nothing.  Then wait for ten years and see if a Mercedes evolves.  Try it.  If it doesn’t appear, leave it for 20 years.  If that doesn’t work, try it for 100 years.  Then try it for 10,000 years.  Here’s what will produce the necessary blind faith to make the evolutionary process believable: leave it for 250 million years.

“New scientific revelations about supernovas, black holes, quarks, and the big bang even suggest to some scientists that there is a ‘grand design’ in the universe.”  (U.S. News & World Report, March 31, 1997).

“The universe suddenly exploded into being…the big bang bears an uncanny resemblance to the Genesis command.”  (Jim Hold, science writer, Wall Street Journal).

How does the young-earth theory explain that we can see stars millions of light-years away?  How would the light have reached us?

Since God made the sun, moon and stars “to give light upon the earth” (Genesis 1:14-18), those lights would be immediately visible on earth.  They fulfilled their purpose on the day God spoke them into being, because He “say that it was good.”  No doubt God also made Adam as a fully-grown man – perhaps with the appearance of being 30 years old, even though he was only minutes old.  Likewise, herbs and trees were already mature and fruit bearing, to provide a ready supply of food.  That would be the case with all of His creation.

Scientists think that the universe is about 16 billion years old, because of assumptions they have made that cannot be proved accurate.  Click here to see some reasons why the universe may be very young.  Another thing to consider is when God created the “heavens and the earth” in six days, Adam was created as an adult.  He wasn’t created as a baby, who had to grow up.  He could already walk and talk, and possessed great wisdom (unfortunately not enough to resist the wiles of the devil, but that’s another story…).  The trees were also created mature with fruit and seed.  It is not impossible that the universe was also created in a “mature” state.  It may look billions of years old, but it may have been created that way.  Assuming that the universe is billions of light years wide, and that the light from the distant galaxies has already reached us, God may have made it that way, mature just as Adam and the earth were.

Mother Nature sure blew it…

Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, droughts, and earthquakes kill tens of thousands of people each year.  Multitudes endure crippling diseases, endless suffering, and unspeakable pain.  Many non-Christians credit a heartless Mother Nature for giving us all this grief.  They fail to consider that Mother Nature has a Senior Partner Father God.

However, if God is responsible for all this heartache, that presents an interesting dilemma.  If God is an all-loving Father figure, as we are told, we seem to have three choices:  1) God blew it when He made everything (He’s creative but incompetent); 2) God is a tyrant, who gets His kicks from seeing kids die of leukemia; 3) something between God and man is radically wrong.  These are our choices… and those who take time to consider the evidence will lean toward number three.  Something between man and God is radically wrong, and the Bible tells us what it is.

There is a war going on.  We are told that mankind is an enemy of God in his mind through wicked works (1 Colossians 1:21).  That’s not too hard to see.  Man is continually committing violent acts such as murder and rape, lying, stealing, etc., as the daily news confirms.  He uses God’s name as a curse word, while Mother Nature gets the glory for His creation unless there’s a horrible disaster; then man calls that an act of God.

An applicable acronym for WAR is We Are Right.  Any country going to war does so because it has the conviction that it is in the right.  However, a quick look at God’s Law shows us who is right and who is wrong.  We, not God, are the guilty party.  If we want His blessing back on our nation and in our lives, we must make peace with Him, and that is possible only through faith in Jesus Christ.

If God is perfect, why did He make an imperfect creation?

The Bible tells us that the Genesis creation was good.  There was no sin and therefore no suffering or death.  Why then did God give Adam and Eve the ability to sin, knowing full well that they would sin and bring death and pain to the human race?  Some believe that if Adam had been created without the ability to choose, then he would have been a robot.  A father cannot make his children love him.  They choose to love him because they have a free will.  Others point out that humanity would never have seen the depth of the love of God, as displayed in the cross, unless Adam had sinned, and that fact could be one reason why God allowed sin to enter the world.

Evolution disproves the Bible!

The Book of Genesis tells us that everything was created by God; nothing “evolved”.  Every creature was given the ability to reproduce after its own kind as is stated ten times in Genesis 1.  Dogs do not produce cats.  Neither do cats and dogs have a common ancestry.  Dogs begin as dogs and are still dogs.  They vary in species from Chihuahuas to Saint Bernards, but you will not find a dat or a cog (part cat/dog) throughout God’s creation.  Frogs don’t reproduce oysters, cows don’t have lambs, and pregnant pigs don’t give birth to rabbits; God made monkeys as monkeys, and man as man.  Each creature brings forth after its own kind.  That’s no theory; that’s a fact.

The number of fossils in some areas is enormous.  How could earth have supported all those creatures at the same time?

This question shows a common false assumption that many people make.  They assume the earth today is the same as it has always been.  Today’s earth is seventy percent under water.  There are scriptural and scientific indications that the pre-Flood world had greater air pressure, higher percentages of oxygen and carbon dioxide, much more land (above sea level), less water (on the earth’s surface), and a canopy of water to filter out the harmful effects of the sun.  This would cause there to be many times more plants and animals on the earth than there are today.  The added air pressure would diffuse more gasses into the water and support a much greater fish population.  Aquatic plant life per cubic mile would multiply also.

Second Peter 3 tells us that the scoffers in the last days will be willingly ignorant of how God created the heavens and the earth.  They would also be ignorant of the Flood.  These two great events must be considered before making any statements about the conditions on earth today.  Only about three percent of the earth today is habitable for man.  The rest is under water, ice, deserts, mountains, etc.  If the earth before the Flood were, say, seventy percent habitable, it could have supported a huge population.  The vast amount and worldwide distribution of fossils shows that the Flood was global and that God hates sin enough to judge the entire world. – Kent Hovind

About 85% of the rock surface around the worked is made up of sedimentary rock, indicating that at some time in the past, the world was covered by water. – Peter and Paul Lalonde, 301 Startling Proofs & Prophecies.
